BeFre Company is specialised in the design, production and sale of reusable CO2-neutral labelled bags for shopping, events or promotions. The bags are made from reusable, recycled, fair trade, organic fabrics. BeFre's mission is to study, to develop, and to offer new eco-friendly reusable alternatives for the current overuse of polluting throw-away plastic bags. BeFre is trying to show companies and consumers alike that the reusing of bags can help decrease the amount of littered bags, and thus also the amount of primary materials needed for their production, as well as the waste produced by throwing away of one-time bags. Moreover, reusable bags can be used as a great long-lasting and eco-friendly street marketing.
The Shift helps members to make use of the global framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals to map their societal ambitions.
12. Responsible consumption and production
BeFre sprl has been created in 2007 with the only purpose to convince companies, consumers, actors of the sustainable development chain that by reusing bags we decrease consistently the amount of littered bags, their production and waste, and we change our habits of excess-consumption. BeFre's philosophy is based on the Cradle to Cradle theory. Therefore, the company offers eco-friendly and reusable alternatives such as Recycled PET (polyetylene terephtalate) reusable shopping bags or reusable bags made from Organic (GOTS-certified) and/or Fairtrade cotton. BeFre is going further by offering since 2010 only CO2-neutral certified bags.
13. Climate action
BeFre has decided to reduce the impact of the remaining CO2 emissions and therefore work together with CO2logic to calculate the CO2-emissions for the production of the fabrics, the making of the bags, the transport and the delivery of the reusable bags to the customers. In order to offset the CO2-emissions, BeFre supports climate projects such as the Improved Cookstoves project in Uganda.
