The Carbon Trust is a mission-led organisation that is seeking to accelerate the delivery of sustainable, low carbon economies by helping governments, businesses and organisations to reduce carbon emissions and achieve greater resource efficiency. Originally established in 2001 by the UK government, the Carbon Trust now works as an independent, not-for-profit organisation across the globe. With nearly two decades of experience working with a wide range of stakeholders and technologies of the future, we can provide a unique holistic view on the low carbon transition.
The Shift helps members to make use of the global framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals to map their societal ambitions.
12. Responsible consumption and production
As an expert in carbon footprinting, the Carbon Trust works as a catalyst to move towards more responsible consumption and production models. The Carbon Trust created the world’s first product footprint label, empowering consumers to make informed consumption decisions. As an organisational sustainability certification, the Carbon Trust Standard recognizes and encourages businesses who manage and reduce their production impact.
13. Climate action
As a leading climate-change consultancy, the Carbon Trust plays a unique systemic role to inspire stakeholders to shift towards low carbon economies. The Carbon Trust co-authored the technical guidance for the Green House Gas Protocol’s Scope 3 technical guidance and is a member on the Technical Board for the Science Based Targets initiative, establishing robust standards to help organisations identify climate risks and opportunities.
