ENGIE is a global energy player and an expert operator in the three businesses of electricity, natural gas and energy services. The Group develops its businesses around a model based on responsible growth to take on the major challenges of energy’s transition to a low-carbon economy: access to sustainable energy, climate-change mitigation and adaptation, security of supply and the rational use of resources.
The Shift helps members to make use of the global framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals to map their societal ambitions.
13. Climate action
Because of the nature of its industrial activities, ENGIE has developed a management approach designed to limit its environmental impact. By developing renewable energies and optimizing the energy efficiency of its production facilities, ENGIE contributes to the fight against climate change.
4. Quality education
ENGIE signed membership in the Alliance For YOUth, a youth employment initiative founded by Nestlé. With this signing, ENGIE reinforces its commitment in favor of professional development for young persons, a challenge at the heart of its concerns, particularly with regard to apprenticeships. Membership in Alliance For YOUth perfectly reflects the Group’s active commitment to facilitate access to jobs for the younger generation. With its membership in the Alliance For YOUth, ENGIE continues with its commitment to employment for young persons. Along these lines, the Group recently signed the European “Pact For Youth” that promotes steady, responsible jobs for young Europeans and has also launched a Franco-German pilot project, “Erasmus Apprentis,” to encourage the mobility of apprentices in Europe.
5. Gender equality
As a company committed to citizenship and solidarity, ENGIE pursues a number of efforts to encourage diversity within the Group. Diversity, jobs for seniors and the integration of workers with disabilities are top Group priorities.
17. Partnerships for the goals
Cooperation and dialogue with stakeholders Due to the nature of its businesses, ENGIE plays an important role in local communities: supplying energy, water and services for energy and the environment. To ensure the continuity and social acceptance of its activities and promote its long-term development, the Group works through its sustainability policy to build relationships of confidence with all stakeholders by improving cooperation and dialogue.
11. Sustainable cities and communities
Building energy performance in the cities of tomorrow, controlled local use of energy, grid flows in sustainable cities, urban space safety and sharing, real-time management of connected cities… ENGIE considers all these factors and more at the earliest-possible stage of major urban development projects, and develops solutions to support cities and localities as they address the issues of sustainable mobility.
