Humane Society International is one of the only international animal protection organizations in the world working to protect all animals
The Shift helps members to make use of the global framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals to map their societal ambitions.
12. Responsible consumption and production
HSI works with governments, corporations, civil society and other stakeholders to promote sustainable food consumption patterns by reducing consumption of resource intensive animal-based foods and shifting to more plant-based diets.
13. Climate action
Animal agriculture accounts for 14.5% of human induced greenhouse gas emissions globally and must be addressed if we are to meet our international climate commitments such as the Paris Agreement and the SDGs.
3. Good health
Studies show that many chronic diseases can be prevented, and in some cases reversed, with plant-based diets. In fact, individuals who eat a plant-based diet are likely to have a lower body weight and a decreased risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease and some cancers.
