The Shift helps members to make use of the global framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals to map their societal ambitions.
13. Climate action
By signing the COP21 engagement letter, we commit to take voluntary action to reduce environmental and carbon footprints. We implement this by setting targets to reduce our current own GHG emissions and/or energy consumption, while also collaborating in supply chains and at sectorial levels. We agree on the need for inspirational and meaningful global action and aligned messaging. We will act as ambassadors for climate action, focusing on solutions and economic opportunities. We will help raise public awareness. We will actively manage climate risks and incorporate them in decision making — not least to realize growth opportunities. We will take steps to implement effective strategies to strengthen not only our companies’ but also societal resilience.
3. Good health
Our companies offer to our employees an array of programs, services and products to stimulate their well-being. Randstad Belgium has an online platform (I Change) focusing on eight topics: sleep, drinking, stress, food, weight, sports, smoking, and mood. Employees can follow one of several modules. From the start in 2010 until September 2014, over 934 employees participated in at least one module. With the platform, Randstad aims to organize workshops around dietetics topics for its employees in 2016. Up to now there is already 32 one hour-workshops forecasted across our Belgian agencies. Another important goal for 2016 is to ensure, in partnership with Securex, the presence of a psychologist inside our agencies twice a month to facilitate the reintegration after a burn-out for instance.
5. Gender equality
Randstad has been dedicated to furthering the role of women in business since the company was founded in the 1960s. The overall percentage of women in senior management at Randstad has been relatively stable over the past few years but we are committed to encouraging women to climb the 'corporate ladder', and we continue to offer them the right tools and processes to support them in moving up.
12. Responsible consumption and production
We focus more and more on responsible consumption and production patterns through our internal policies regarding to the products we buy and to the way we use it. For instance we empower recycling, we expect from our providers to be aligned with environmental standards. The societal responsibility of the company is definitively part of our provider's evaluations. Our goal in 2016 is to be able to provide feedbacks and advices regarding to these evaluations.
8. Decent work and economic growth
In 2012, Randstad Belgium established a partnership with Leuven University to broaden employment opportunities for students with degrees in Economics and Business Studies. Individual coaching sessions form a part of the program. With this success, the initial local action has matured and is now a new division. Randstad 'Young Talents' is the only player in the market that is fully dedicated to this target group and is also the first, and so far the only one in the market that creates additional jobs for specific graduates. One of the specific projects of Galilei Employability's department in 2016 was to support refugees ‘integration through work.
8. Decent work and economic growth
By our commitment to the Charter ‘Decent Work for All, we recognize the unique skills and talent every person can offer, regardless their gender, age, sexual orientation, cultural or social background, disability, or personal situation. We acknowledge that all actors from different sectors –private, social, public -need to join forces to integrate unemployed people in the labour market and address the obstacles to professional integration. We want to build well-connected ecosystems in which we collaborate to increase social impact. We express our commitment towards Decent work for all, including inclusive recruiting, and we will act in accordance of the charter. This means to us, as an actor of private sector, striving actively to create decent and sustainable jobs in an inclusive work environment, to reflect the diversity of our society in the workforce and to embed “Decent work for all” in the company culture. As one with all actors, we will define and communicate a target and action plan for inclusive recruiting to reflect the diversity of society in the workforce. We will leverage the organization’s resources to have an impact on decent work for all (internships, expertise, volunteering, lobbying, funding). We will contact other organizations to create or join the ecosystem to reach the target for inclusive workforce (recruiting and retention). We will share best practices with other organizations to inforce the ecosystem for decent work. We will report on results and lessons learned to decision makers in the companies and our country.
