Ambities

The Shift helpt leden gebruik maken van het globaal kader van de UN Sustainable Development Goals om hun maatschappelijke ambities in kaart te brengen.

6. Clean water and sanitation

Protos is committed to SDG 6, and its targets 6.1 – 6.6 , 6.a and 6.b. We have also attention to the clear links between water and all the 16 other SDGs. In Belgium, Protos works together with municipalities (and cities) implementing a sustainability plan and schools, companies and offices in these municipalities prepared to help executing that plan, with a focus on conscious direct and indirect water usage and behaviour. Direct water is the water used here in Belgium to produce a product or service. Indirect water is the water used to produce a product or service elsewhere. By our buying and consumption behaviour, we can, without being aware, destabilize the water management in countries/regions abroad. Protos also helps Belgium to contribute to the international realization of SDG6. On one hand, with our development programs in 8 developing countries, we reinforce local actors to enable them to give access to drinking water, sanitation or water for agriculture whilst assuring a sustainable service for the population. On the other hand, by creating partnerships between Flemish water-actors and their homologues in developing countries, we actively facilitate capacity building on subjects mentioned in 6.a. Protos strongly believes participation of local authorities and communities is key in water and sanitation management: see our mission vision statement.

1. End poverty

Assuring sustainable access to drinking water, sanitation and water for agriculture leads to a large contribution in eradicating extreme poverty

12. Responsible consumption and production

Protos focuses on conscious direct and indirect water usage and behaviour. Direct water is the water used here in Belgium to produce a product or service. Indirect water is the water used to produce a product or service elsewhere. By our buying and consumption behaviour, we can, without being aware, destabilize the water management in countries/regions abroad.
